JYLLANDS - POSTEN: A JUSTIFIED OUTRAGE
With Jyllands-Posten, the now infamous Danish newspaper, publishing a collection of highly objectionable cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), the noble profession of journalism has hit a new low. Whatever happened to, "responsible journalism," and being responsible world citizens at a time when the world is reeling under the weight of the so-called clashes of civilization? Pray, what was the reason for such irresponsible behavior - printing such objectionable content and inviting the scathing fury of Muslims across the world? What scares me the most is the possibility that the Danish newspaper published what they did with the express intent of creating such a furore and riling up millions of Muslims across the world, and not merely for the artistic satisfaction of it.
I find it very hard to believe that they didn't expect this to become a massive issue. They knew that they would be met with a strong backlash in the Arab and Islamic world, they knew it would spell grave diplomatic and economic consequences for Denmark, they knew it would result in ...
