Managing Editor: With at least 7 to 10 years of experience behind him, this person should be able to handle the overseeing of operations for multiple editorial projects. He will be responsible for the smooth and timely functioning of different teams working on newspapers based abroad. The heads of each of these projects will report directly to him. Here are some of the basic skills and abilities we need for this post.

Tracking different projects: The managing editor will be responsible for looking after several projects and should hence be a smooth multitasker. He should be able to develop tracking methodologies, making it effortless for teams to report status with precision and timeliness and develop appropriate alert systems to prevent any problems with workflow and deadlines. The managing editor should be able to help with operational problems without getting too involved in day to day operations and remain in a distant enough position to be able to give usable feedback and solutions to problems

Desired Profile A good people-manager: With deadline oriented high pressure projects in his charge, the managing editor should be entirely accessible and open to helping teams work with a minimum of interpersonal or other problems. He should be able to identify a) ipr issues b) gaps in capability c) specific needs for training and to evaluate and appraise people or review the evaluations of others. He should also be able to motivate teams.

Able to set up processes and see they are followed: With zero margins allowed for error or overshooting deadlines, setting up processes is absolutely critical. The managing editor should be able to pinpoint where and when processes are needed, develop them and make sure they are followed. At the same time he should be flexible enough to modify or discard processes when theyh are not working and look for solutions. Setting up processes will involve looking workflow, developing or working with style guidelines for different publications and putting in place operational manuals and finding ways to make people follow them.

Handling pressure and troubleshooting problems: The problems in handling copydesk operations for a newspaper across the world can range from tech breakdowns and down time to shortage of people, to demanding clients who contribute significantly to difficulty meeting deadlines. One eye on the clock is essential if the client newspaper is to come out at all, and there are no compromises on time and quality. The managing editor should be able to ensure that each team on different projects is performing up to the desired standard and meeting schedules precisely while helping the heads of these projects to find solutions to problems quickly.

Interface with clients: The managing editor will need to be the key person in contact with clients, particularly those in other countries. It will be critical for him to be the buffer between operational teams and customer. He is the person who understands client needs and the teams' problems. He is the person who will convey to the operational teams the requirements of the client and "sell" to the clients, the performance of te editorial teams. The managing editor should be able to meet or be posted briefly with clients, pick up valuable pointers and contribute to training the teams in specific areas. He will be responsible for expanding the relationship with clients.

Strong language skills: The managing editor must have strong experience with the media, particularly being familiar with the functioning of copydesks and the handling of news. He must have an excellent comprehension of writing and be able to help scale up editing and writing to international levels

Personality traits: Cool under pressure, professional, warm and accessible yet able to keep an appropriate distance, able to get along easily with different levels of people.

The person will need to be flexible with time and be accessible. He should e ale to move to Delhi. Travelling abroad will be important.

Content Editor: Keeping a finger on the pulse of breaking news, selecting news, editing them into crisp, user-friendly copy meant for a global online audience. Update the website sections on a routine basis.

Write on-the-fly news stories from different news source as news breaks and update website ahead of all. An absolute news junkie with turbo-charged editing skills and an astute understanding of what all is going around in the world. Knowledge and understanding of the English language, a killer urge to do things faster and yet not miss out on detail.

Ability to give brilliant headlines will be a differentiating factor. Should be a devoted team worker. Prior experience in a online space is preferred, though talented freshers with a diploma in journalism/communication will be considered.

Head Marketing: This is a senior and, to a great extent, an autonomous role which may also be incentivised on a results basis. You will be responsible for all aspects relating to online marketing, acquiring, retaining and developing clients/ vendors/ merchants, benchmarking, affiliate partnership, promotion and lead creation. You will devise keyword campaigns, continually optimize strategy and track results.

You will possess excellent presentation and communication business skills and be confident of delivering results. You will have experience of web analysis and keyword software, pay per click (ppc) campaigns and e-commerce platforms. MBA from reputed institutes with 3-4 years of experience in online media.
